Pestemal are traditional Turkish towels used to cover the body in hammam or bath. Nowadays are really popular in Canada, America and France and are used as bath towels, shawls or stole, as a beach towel, pareo, plaid, for sporting activities among others. They are very soft and light, absorb water as fast as a towel, they dry quickly, take up less space and easy to carry.
Avacasa, founded by Laura Resenberg and Özlem Ahmetoglu, make great Peshtemal in hand wooven looms. Check them all on their website, they are available in a broad range of colours, and besides the ones made of 100 % cotton there are variations in silk and bamboo.
