F: Let’s start with a question to satisfy our curiosity: how many shoes do you have in your closet? Or do you have a dedicated room?
GLENN: So, back in the day I actually had to rent a storage unit to keep my shoes. Back then I used to collect deadstock and vintage adidas, Puma, Nike and Reebok (and others) – all 70s, 80s and 90s shoes.
I had quite a collection that included sportswear and outdoors apparel. I used to keep it my attic but over time had to get a storage unit.
Sadly, my wife made me sell my collection (before we had our first child). But over the years, it’s built up again. I have over one hundred pairs and keep them in the house, under the bed, at work… that kind of thing.
F: Which is your favourite sneaker, the ones you will never get rid of it despite the bad conditions? Why?
GLENN: Tough question. My favourite all time shoe is probably the adidas Stan Smith as it’s an all time classic.
F:Is there any retro style you never had but you would like to wear nowadays?
GLENN: Nike Omega Flame.
F:A few days ago was the Air Max Day: did you celebrate the occasion wearing that style?
GLENN:Every day could be Nike Air Max day!
F:Running enthusiasts are increasing day by day, are you one of them or are you just a running styles lover? Which model do you prefer between today’s wide range? And which one do you recommend?
GLENN: No, I’m not a runner but I do go to the gym and when I do the shoe I prefer the most is the adidas Boost. It’s light and tough and perfect for my foot shape.
I’d recommend a store like Foot Locker and their running range. There’s a lot of amazing functional footwear in the range and its subjective as to what works for the individual – I guess people will have to go and check them all out!
F:How and where do you purchase your shoes? Do you like to try them “live” and so you have your local retail store, or do you shop on the Internet?
GLENN: Both. The Internet has opened up the chance to buy rare and limited shoes from all over the world. That said, there’s nothing quite like going down to a store like Foot Locker and trying them on for yourself.
F:What do you think about the resellers who buy limited editions to resale?
GLENN: Hate the game not the player yo.
F:Sneakers are gaining ground even within the most fashionable circuits, for example Chanel’s fashion show during the London Fashion Week. What do you think about this?
GLENN: Naturally it’s really interesting to see sneakers make it onto the Chanel catwalk and this reflects the current trend for sneakers. That said, fashions come and go but there’ll be those people who are always into sports footwear.
Ringraziamo Glenn Kitson e Foot Locker per la disponibilità e per aver condiviso con noi la loro passione per le sneakers!
